Transition Programs

Starting Kindergarten can bring a lot of information, and we want you to feel as prepared as possible. We’ve been welcoming new Kindergarten students for a long time (since 1861, in fact!) so we understand the questions that new families often have. Throughout the school year, we hold a variety of events designed to answer these questions and help ease any nerves. Take a look below at our what we offer:

School tours

Before your child begins, you are welcome to request a tour or a meeting with Miss Pokoney. These are optional and available upon request if you’d like. This is an opportunity to see what our school offers and to share any important information, such as:

If your child attends long day care or preschool, it can be helpful to ask their educator if there are any insights they feel should be shared with the school before your child starts. Educators often have a strong understanding of your child and what they may need to transition smoothly.

Transition to school program

Our Transition to School Program is a great way to help your child get ready for ‘big school’. Over four morning sessions, your child will meet the Kindergarten teachers, make new friends who are also starting at Wagga Wagga Public School, get to know the classroom and school surroundings, and take part in some fun activities that will help them get used to the learning that takes place in Kindergarten.
